Apple has made public downloads of iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, watchOS 8.6, tvOS 15.5, and Studio Display version 15.5 accessible, with the upgrades mostly containing bug and performance fixes.
The upgrades for iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, watchOS 8.6, and tvOS 15.5 come following a month of beta testing in which five beta builds were distributed to developer testers.
The Studio Display version 15.5 is also accessible to the general public. It’s available as a separate download from the macOS System Preferences.
Apple isn’t incorporating any big changes in its operating system upgrades, which were issued a month before WWDC 2022. It’s more probable that it’ll save important features for the WWDC keynote, where it’ll make major announcements.
There are references to an “Apple Classical” app in the iOS 15.5 betas, as well as an upgrade to the Home app that includes Wi-Fi connection indications for the HomePod and Request and Send buttons for Apple Pay Cash in the Wallet app.
In the iOS/iPadOS release notes, Apple mentions the following:
- Customers with an Apple Cash card may now send and request money using Wallet.
- Apple Podcasts now has a new feature that allows you to restrict the number of episodes kept on your iPhone and erase outdated ones automatically.
- Fixes a problem where home automation triggered by individuals entering or leaving the house might fail.
All devices that are currently compatible with iOS 15 are compatible with iOS and iPadOS 15.5 as well. Similarly, tvOS 15.5 is compatible with all Apple TV models running tvOS 15, and watchOS 8.6 is compatible with Apple Watch models running watchOS 8.
